Stourton Caundle is a rural village in North Dorset with approximately 360 residents, characterised by its stone and thatch dwellings and some superb gardens.  Situated two miles south of Stalbridge and eight miles west of Sherborne in the heart of the Blackmore Vale, there is a lively community with a number of clubs, a community magazine 'The Caundler,' thriving allotments, an attractive play area, The Trooper Inn and the beautiful historic church of St. Peter. Surrounded by farmland; there are lovely views and walks, particularly to the south where the ancient packhorse bridge crosses the Caundle Brook.

The Parish Council has seven councillors. Meetings tend to be on an ad-hoc basis when planning applications are received; advertised on the website and in the three village noticeboards. The Annual General Meeting and Annual Parish Meeting are held on the same evening in May and reports for the Annual Parish Meeting from each organisation are published with the Caundler Magazine and delivered to every house in the parish.
